Founded on 5th February 1972 with the main aim of
collecting artifacts for a museum. This Association is now not only
about history - we also have lectures and field trips on subjects as
diverse as archaeology to geology to natural history by local and
visiting lecturers. We also exchange visits with similar groups in
the GCC states.
At present we have approximately 200 members of
various ages and from all walks of life here in the Sultanate.
Our
meetings are normally held twice a month on Monday evenings from
2000 to 2130 hours, but our lecture venues vary - sometimes we are
in the PDO Oil and Gas Exhibition Center and Planetarium and on
other occasions the Cultural Club in Qurm. We serve tea and coffee
at the close of our meetings which gives new members the chance to
get to know others
